Onshore wind ‘reinstated’ to UK auctions article in Windpower Monthly discusses the UK Government’s consultation announcement about future Contract for Difference (CfD) auctions for low carbon electricity generation.

In discussing the potential for onshore wind to be part  ofthe CfD auctions, the article refers to our The Power of Onshore Wind report of June 2018 report. The report suggested that onshore wind prices could fall from £49.40/MWh in 2019 to £45/MWh (both in 2017 prices) by 2025 – below forecast wholesale electricity prices. At these prices, there additon of onshore wind to the CfD auctions would not increase the cost of the UK Government.
