This privacy notice is for this website; www.bvgassociates.com, and is served by BVG Associates, 38-42 Newport Street, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN1 3DR, United Kingdom, and governs the privacy of those who use it. It explains how we obtain, control, process, handle and protect your personal information, including your rights under current laws and regulations.

Processing of your personal data

BVG Associates processes personal information about you where we need to fulfil any contractual obligations or where we have a legitimate interest to do so.
We only collect the following information:

  • your name and title;
  • your business contact details: company name, job title, postal address, telephone numbers (including mobile numbers) and e-mail address;
  • your correspondence and communications with us.

If you have subscribed to our newsletter, we use consent as the legal basis for controlling and processing your data.

We obtain this information from business cards you have handed to the BVGA team, subscriptions to our newsletter and business emails you have sent us. We do not buy lists of data from third parties.

We use your personal details to contact you in ways you would reasonably expect such as by email or by phone calls from our team. We do not use any automated systems. We do not share your data with any third parties.

If the lawful basis upon which we process your personal information changes, we will update this privacy notice.

Your personal information is stored on Microsoft Outlook and Salesforce. As these are US based company’s US based service your personal data will be transferred to the US on the basis of the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework.

Internet cookies

We use cookies on this website to provide you with a better user experience. We do this by placing a small text file on your device / computer hard drive to track how you use the website, to record or log whether you have seen particular messages that we display or to keep you logged into the website where applicable.
Some cookies are required to enjoy and use the full functionality of this website.

We use a cookie control system which allows you to accept the use of cookies, and control which cookies are saved to your device / computer the first time you use the website. Data security and protection

BVG Associates takes the security of your data seriously. BVG Associates has internal policies and controls in place intended to ensure that your data is not lost, accidentally destroyed, misused or disclosed, and is not accessed except by its employees in the performance of their duties.

Individual employee’s access to electronic data held on BVGA’s data servers is controlled using user rights policies configured by the IT support team.

Email marketing messages & subscription

If you subscribe to our newsletter or marketing mailing list, we process your data on the basis of consent. The data we collect about you is outlined in “Processing of your personal data” above.

The email marketing messages we send are done so through the MailChimp email marketing service. Each message has an easy method to withdraw your consent (unsubscribe) or manage your preferences / the information we hold about you at any time. We also remove any emails from our marketing list that have not responded to communications (for example, not opened a newsletter) in the most recent 18 months.

As MailChimp is US based service your personal data will be transferred to the US on the basis of the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework.

Email marketing messages that we send may contain tracking beacons / tracked clickable links or similar server technologies in order to track subscriber activity within email marketing messages. Where used, such marketing messages may record a range of data such as; times, dates, I.P addresses, opens, clicks, forwards, geographic and demographic data. Such data, within its limitations will show the activity each subscriber made for that email campaign.

Your individual rights

As a data subject you have a number of rights. The ICO have provided detailed guidance on your rights under GDPR here. In summary these are:

  • the right to be informed;
  • the right of access;
  • the right to rectification;
  • the right to erasure; the right to restrict processing;
  • the right to data portability;
  •  the right to object; and
  • the right not to be subject to automated decision-making including profiling.
