Our work on LCOE, innovation and turbine size are mentioned in “Sky’s the limit? Reducing wind energy costs through increased turbine size” article in Utility Dive.
The article is the third of a three-part series of guest posts on the future of wind energy from Ryan Wiser, Joachim Seel, and Bentham Paulos of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Maureen Hand of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
The article refers to our report that highlights the positive impact of turbine generator size, hub height, and rotor length on not only CapEx, but also OpEx and capacity factor; that report cites a possible 18% reduction in LCOE between 2014 and 2030 based on turbine size alone.
