Alex is part of our business strategy team and leads development of our market intelligence tool. She has a background in computer and data science, graduating with a Masters in computing science from the University of Strathclyde in 2019. She brings her data skills to projects at BVGA, inputting expertise on data handling, analytics, modelling and visualisation. Career experience
Data Scientist, VShips (2019 to 2020)
Alex was part of a specialist insight team in the marine service department of VShips, a world leading ship management company. She was involved in a variety of projects providing analysis and data solutions in areas ranging from environmental impact to cruise ship maintenance.
Data Scientist Intern, UCAS (2017 to 2018)
Alex was part of the Publications team at UCAS, the UK’s admissions service for universities and colleges. She produced reports about admissions to inform the public, the media and higher education bodies.
Recent key projects
Analysis of the floating wind supply chain in the UK
Alex was the project manager for this work. A floating wind developer needed support in understanding the capabilities of the supply chain in the UK. Our report provided a reference guide to UK companies and an independent perspective on the supply chain to help the client make informed decisions as they shape their supply chain strategy.
Global offshore wind developer: auction development excellence program
Global offshore wind developer: auction development excellence program. Alex was the project manager for this work. BVG Associates worked closely with a team from the prime contractor, McKinsey and Company, providing auction content and results analysis, industry intelligence, and a detailed forecast of likely changes to auctions over time and recommendations on how to respond to this.
Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan: regulatory framework and supply chain development in Japan. Through various reports for the Government of Japan
Through various reports for the Government of Japan, BVG Associates and our local partner, Mitsubishi Research Institute, have been supporting government officials in developing the OSW sector. We supported part of the Government of Japan’s efforts to address the challenges facing its offshore wind industry. Alex contributed to the analysis of relevant examples from the French OSW market.
International Sustainability Energy Foundation (ISEF): Strategy paper for accelerating deployment of offshore wind in India
ISEF sought to understand the barriers facing the offshore wind (OSW) industry in India and to publish recommendations to Government, industry, and stakeholders on the actions and initiatives required to address these barriers. Alex contributed to the analysis of relevant examples from the US and Japanese OSW markets.
Equinor: detailed Vietnam supply chain assessment
BVGA was chosen to deliver an assessment and categorisation of the nascent offshore wind supply chain in Vietnam, based on a detailed categorisation and in-country engagement. In delivering this project Alex initiated and maintained the data collection system that was used to provide detailed information on the local supply chain
