Alun leads our work in supporting renewable energy companies compete and win in lease and offtake auctions. He delivers strategic support to strengthen bids and provide a quantitative understanding of the competitive landscape. He offers particular insight into non-price factors such as economic benefits and workforce development. He has over 15 years of experience with BVGA, supporting the development of the wind industry with supply-chain knowledge and insights on industry and government strategies. Alun is acting as an expert advisor for this project, which assesses the potential of India’s offshore wind supply chain and estimates the economic value which the industry could deliver.

Ireland’s offshore wind skills action plan

Alun acted as an expert advisor for this project addressing future skills shortages in Ireland’s offshore wind industry. His expertise contributed to our assessment of the demand and training provision for 33 key job roles and delivering targeted, actionable recommendations through Ireland’s Offshore Wind Skills Action Plan.

New York State offshore wind workforce study. Alun is project directing this work for New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. He is overseeing the analysis of job creation, workforce needs and labour market readiness across the offshore wind supply chain, culminating in the delivery of strategic recommendations to guide workforce development.

Our developer client wanted strategic input into for its CIB proposals. The work included detailed advice based on a deep understanding of the framework and practical support in strengthening the proposal documentation.

Offshore wind farm socioeconomic impact study

Alun project directed analysis of what would be one of the world’s largest offshore wind projects. The client needed a detailed assessment of the project’s economic impact. This included local content, gross value added and job creation, drawing on interviews with suppliers and industry insight.

UK Leasing Round 5 social value plans

Alun project directed analyses for a consortium of offshore wind developers. The work had two phases: the first sought to identify where impacts on the Celtic Sea region could have the greatest effect by considering the location of suppliers and infrastructure and levels of deprivation; the second provided a logical framework for how The Crown Estate’s targets for apprentices and the local unemployed could be achieved.
