Offshore wind development pathway

Overview

Ireland has set out a bold vision for offshore wind. To support this ambition, Wind Energy Ireland commissioned us to assess the skills needed to deliver offshore wind. We were also tasked with developing an accessible online tool. This tool was to show how the industry operates, where Ireland stands today and future employment opportunities.

Our offshore wind development pathway work involved a supply chain analysis of activities likely to take place in Ireland. We examined Ireland’s offshore wind track record, adjacent sector capabilities, local supply benefits, skills availability, risks, and the opportunity size.

We projected employment requirements across high and low localisation scenarios. This included 42 key job profiles. The results, along with targeted recommendations, are in our report Building our Potential: Ireland’s Offshore Wind Skills and Talent Needs. The offshore wind development pathway was accompanied by the interactive website: https://www.offshore-wind.ie
