The Pentland Firth wave and tidal supply chain analysis report was positively received by the industry, in particular for the cost and forecast breakdowns which we developed by rationalising a lot of information gathered from industry.

One of our early pieces of work in the wave and tidal space, we were awarded the work after competitive tender.

We developed a “build-out story” for the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters Round 1 leasing round in the UK, translating volumes of anticipated deployment into more tangible measures, looking at what impact this would have in the supply chain and when activity could accelerate.

The report provided details of the capability of the marine energy supply chain and the technical challenges faced in the commercial deployment. We analysed each area of the supply chain, looking at capacity, costs and investment needs, following methods honed delivering keynote reports for the offshore wind sector.

“We had seen what BVG Associates could do in offshore wind in the context of “industry building”. Having recognized the relative immaturity of the wave and tidal sectors we believed they could use a similar approach and were pleased to receive a coherent and informed document that helped move the sector on.”
